Puck is in love with Shelby Corcoran. It doesn't feel as unrealistic because of how old Mark Salling looks, but none-the-less we're reminded that Puck is "eighteen" and not 29. He rocks out to "Hot for Teacher" and it was accented by a dance sequence by Blaine and Mike; I think the emphasis is that Blaine can actually do decent choreography without looking totally dumb, Finn. Schue loved the performance even though he didn't realize the true intentions were about Shelby.

[Food Network Star season 7, episode 8]

After last week’s double elimination, Whitney could see that Jyll was still frazzled. The contestants packed their bags and headed to New York. They arrived at Chelsea Piers and were greeted by Bobby Flay and the Barefoot Contessa herself, Ina Garten. She explained to the contestants that their camera challenge would be to create a cupcake that represented their point of view.

Each contestant made a rush trying to figure out what kind of cupcake they would use. Susie went the traditional Mexican route with a corn cupcake but wanted to make sure that it was fancy. Vic wanted to channel his New York family and make a tartufo with a twist. Jeff decided that adding five different forms of Italian cold cuts would be a genius idea. As time was up, the contestants prepared their demos for Bobby, Ina, and Bob.

Justin D. felt like a failure because his confidence wasn’t showing after the last few weeks.

The contestants walked in to Melissa, winner of season five. She announced that the Camera Challenge was to make a small appetizer with a Kellogg’s product as a main ingredient. Each contestant was assigned a random product and Justin B. got his wish: Cheez Its. As the contestants started cooking, Jyll decided to make a rice krispies crab fritter. Most of the contestants ended up grinding up their Kellogg’s product and used them as a form of breading, which was probably the easiest thing to do. Chris wanted to impress, so he made a Corn Flake chicken lollipop; yet another bread-crumbed contestant. Justin D. had no clear idea with 15 minutes, so he used Krispix as (shocker) bread crumbs.

With time up, Justin D. was disappointed about his food and was a bit more embarrassed when Iron Chef Michael Symon arrived as the judge. Susie couldn’t focus and swooned over Michael. He explained to the contestants that they have to communicate the taste of their appetizer by biting into their food and giving that stereotypical “mmm” in front of the camera. Chris started first and he ran out of time and shoved two chicken nuggets into his mouth, looking like a total idiot. The judges claimed it was an improvement, even though he was still a bit impish. Whitney continued her very stoic nature on camera. Her product didn’t use the Pop Tarts as well but it was commendable how she managed to get a dessert to be savory.

Expedition Impossible Recap: Sun! Sand! Sahara!

In the premiere episode of Expedition Impossible we meet the 13 teams of three (39 people?!) as they journey through the Moroccan desert in a quest to win $150,000 and some cars. There will be camels and they are cranky.

Morocco. Thirteen teams of three were driven in their Fords, flanked by Moroccan guards on horses. It reminded me of the scene in Indiana Jones where Indy shot the whip specialist and walked away; I was expecting a Ford to accidentally run over a horse rider in a power play. We meet several teams, most with very unfortunate titles like “Mom’s Army” and “Grandpa’s Warriors.” The first that got to talk was the Fab 3: the teal wearing gay exes and a sister. The Country Boys, Latin Persuasion (“Latinas Yo”), and the Footballers play up their stereotypes, claiming that if they can survive (insert local area here), then Morocco would be easy. The team with the blind guy was known as “No Limits,” but after this episode we know that all three were Blind. Grandpa’s Warriors were sporting these pee yellow color shirts that I couldn’t help but wonder if Grandpa Dick had his Depends on. The country boys slammed the Latinas for wearing black but I have a feeling everyone was forced to pick a team color and the Latinas unfortunately got the short end of the stick.

Expedition Impossible: Ain’t That A Kick In The Head? Here’s The Rankings

FAB 3
Ryan Allen Carrillo – Kari Gibson – AJ Gibson
Current Ranking: 1 Previous Ranking: None
While Fab 3 didn’t finish the race in first place, they are higher ranked here because they were the only team to solve the water puzzle. While the puzzle seemed a bit easy, AJ was the only one to think about the validity of digging in a desert. Kari showed some fear when she was about to descend the mountain, but that’s natural. Kari is the highest ranking female so that in itself is an accomplishment.

THE GYPSIES (Pictured above in purple)
John Post – Taylor Filasky – Eric Bach
Current Ranking: 2 Previous Ranking: None
The mustachioed Gypsies didn’t make any mistakes during this leg, putting their trust in the Fab 3 during the water puzzle and then taking over physically to capture first place. Sadly, there was no prize for being first, but the team seems mentally stable enough that they won’t have to bicker their way to victory.

Tomorrow’s Contenders?
Snap Boogie – The street performer had the perfect sob story and the right song to fit his character (overcoming obstacles with the joy of dance). We’ve seen a lot of breakers, but I was genuinely impressed by his whole routine. I can see how he would increase his difficulty level for the following competition rounds.

Following a shocking non-elimination last week, the pressure increased for the 20 remaining contestants last night.

Along with Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, Debbie Reynolds sat in on the So You Think You Can Dance panel. Unfortunately, she thought everything was amazing and wanted to bring all the dancers to her home for some unknown reason, even those who struggled to earn passing grades…

Ryan & Ricky: Jazz (Mandy Moore) – Mandy wanted a sexual jazz routine and “Roderick” didn’t seem like the type that would fit. While Ryan was sexy, there was something I didn’t believe about Ricky involving their supposed sexual tension. Ryan had the right amount of camera mugging with partner eye contact and her leaps into Ricky were done with confidence. There were a few movements that Ricky did that were too feminine. My Grade: B-

['Platinum Hit' - Season 1 Episode 3]

The contestants wake up to a new challenge; Nick was still depressed that Karen was eliminated instead of Melissa. Jackie wanted to fight back from her appearance in the bottom three last week. The contestants arrived in the studio for their Hook Challenge. Jewel arrived in a leather dress and announced that they would be writing about superpowers they wish they had. The big twist was that they had to rap. The guest judge was Rodney Jerkins. The contestants dispersed after being given their normal 30 minutes.

Sonyae had rap around her being brought up in New Jersey. Melissa claimed that 2Pac was an influence; Scotty thought her lyrics were hysterical. Scotty decided to use his video gamer influences for his song.
