Avatar-ded

I still don't get why there is so much hype over the film Avatar. The people are blue and are in an alternate world. Woo-hoo. I guess on paper things don’t grab me. I don’t think it’s amazing, on visuals or what I’ve seen the acting.

I keep reading articles about people becoming depressed because the Avatar world is not as cool as Earth. Maybe those people should go outside and actually experience the world.

Maybe because it’s because I still think that James Cameron comes off as a little smug.

Am I missing something? Probably, but I’m not running out and watching this movie. Maybe a blu-ray, but I don’t think I could sit that long in a theater.

Do you look like a fool with your pants on the ground?

American Idol has created a lot of random crap over the years, while some are good (She Bangs as interpreted by William Hung) others are bad (that “We’re Brothers Forever” by Renaldo Lapuz was just stupid) and this year, we get “Pants on the Ground.”

Here are my top three favorite remixes:

Number 3

Number 2

Number 1

I think that the videos have gotten a bit better now because of how YouTube has affected everything. Though I still will admit, of all the Idol-related funny/bad singers, my favorite by far is still "Ken Lee." Here's the video below:

Here’s a jumbled post for you

Why does it seem like more people are concerned about the Conan O’Brien/Jay Leno debacle than the problems with Haiti? Probably only because it’s easier to watch videos of Conan on YouTube than the horrors of Haiti. I recently saw a photo of all these protesters in the rain complaining to NBC about Conan/Jay. Now I will say that NBC was treating Conan like crap and no one deserves the drama. Here’s my favorite video that emerged from it:

I love how the Chinese have gained popularity for their insane interpretations...Especially after that one Chinese interpretation of Tiger Woods’ car accident.

But on a serious point, I appreciate what George Clooney and all the rest of the celebrities will be doing on Friday for Haiti. Granted it seems to be on every channel... luckily even if I don’t have the Food Network I can still watch it.

Breaking out is hard to do

I’ve had a different sleeping schedule than I normally have during the normal TV Season: wake up some time around Nine, sleep sometime around 3AM. Six hours of sleep. While I’m not lethargic during the day, I have been getting a few spots of pimples. But is it the lack of sleep?

I thought about it and there are several factors all coming together. I thought six hours of sleep wasn’t bad. I drink a lot of water. I take vitamins. I love fruits. I still break out a little. I haven’t had the ability to have a steady exercise plan yet due to the cold weather, but is the sweat something good or bad? I hate the idea of pimples showing up. Will one slightly cheesy or oily French fry be my demise?

There was one interesting thing I noticed: whenever I intensely wash my face (like with say acne-related soap vs just a bar of soap) I actually gain more pimples. It’s odd. As if my chemistry on my face is somewhat normal and then getting rid of all the “good” oils introduces some bad ones to the mix. Bastardly products.

I thought I was done with pimples after puberty. I treat my face pretty good…I mean for a guy I guess. You know, wash face, SPF related sunblock when I walk, occasional oil/aloe something lotion, and such. I guess pimples will rear their ugly heads once in a while for a while then.

Will the return of Grey's Anatomy and Project Runway make my life worse? I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that it doesn't.

More end of 2009 stuff

One of the things that I love are DJs that know how to do really good mash-ups. I mentioned DJ Earworm in an earlier post, so I only find it fair to admit my love for K-pop mash-ups. This comes from another favorite DJ: Masa.

I didn't find this mix to be as good as 2008's but it's still high quality.

My Top 30 of 2009 – Supplimental B

Remember on my top 30, Beyonce's Single Ladies was six. I figure I point other videos I love as much as the Avant Garde Clown performance of Single Ladies.

Single Man:

Of course I can't mention He-Wolf without pointing out the guy who did the whole Single Ladies performance. This guy is intense and he ended up getting a lot of exposure for just one YouTube video.

Flash Mob:

I'm a huge fan of Flash Mobs and although this Flash Mob was rigged and intentional (Trident/Beyonce's performance) it is one of the cleanest performances of a Flash Mob. The fact of the matter is all of the girls are really into the dance. That and the fact is, it had to be a little chilly, based off of the fact that everyone around them has at least a light jacket on.

Single Baby:

Babies are cute aren't they? Apparently Beyonce's audience isn't only dance friendly 12-30-somethings. She should just make a baby friendly album. Heh.

Mr. Bean:

Anytime Mr. Bean is involved, it's funny. The editing is a little crude, but it's okay because it's Mr. Bean.

Single Asians:

Probably some of the funniest re-written lyrics. I guess Yale students are as smart as the school they go to. And it's Asian. Duh I'm going to like it.

Fanny Pak:

My favorite America's Best Dance Crew tackles Beyonce's choreography. I'm not surprised how well they did.
