My Top 30 Songs of 2009 – Number 3
3) Pitbull - I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)
Pitbull always knows how to pull out a club anthem for the summer. "I know you want me" is no exception to this rule. Sure he may have borrowed/stolen a sample (when doesn't he really? I mean the first time I remember him, "Culo" was the same riddim that everyone else used), but he knew exactly how to work it to his advantage.
The song made me want to get up and dance. And you could do a lot with the song: booty shaking, breaking, general grooving, bad white person dances, actual cha-cha/samba/salsa or some African-inspired movement. Note the performance from So You Think You Can Dance (This was the finale show of Season 5):
Sure I may not have liked the new stage, but I definitely thought that this was one of the performances that actually used the size of the stage really well. Where was I? Oh, Pitbull.
I understand that there is a raunchiness to Pitbull's lyrics, but really it's his style. His sexual promiscuity is his thing. I mean he's somewhat good looking, I've never seen him past suits and baggy clothes. I assume that with his "linguistic style" he could probably nab any person he wants.
