My Top 30 Songs of 2009 – Number 12

12) Muse - Uprising

I was first exposed to Muse late, at the VMAs. I will admit that I wasn't impressed by the performance at all. Kinda boring actually, but that's in comparison to Pink flying around on a trapeze, Lil Mama crashing the Jay-Z performance, hundreds of Single Ladies or Lady GaGa bleeding.

So I decided to give them a second chance and caught the music video for "Uprising" on VH1. Thank God for VH1 still occasionally playing music videos. I'm telling you, music videos are cheaper to play than any Celebreality show. Where was I? Oh, I love the angry Panda actually, the whole story in general. Anti-bear feelings, people burning anything to do with them and then the bears get angry and destroy the town a la Godzilla.

The song got even more catchy as they used it for the TV show V. I'm still convinced that the song would have made for an amazing Paso Doble on So You Think You Can Dance.

Either way, I find the lead singer to have the potential to have a [U2's] Bono-esque voice and execution, but Muse comes off kinda gangly and not so energetic. Maybe it's because they don't have the best looking of leaders. Also, I don't know what the other song they performed on SNL but it sucked horribly. It was way generic for my tastes.
