21) Jason Mraz – Lucky (Ft. Colbie Callait)
The fact that “Lucky” made my list may just be the fact that Jason Mraz’s music has this carefree nature. Jason is happily going an opposite direction as music is today, while catchy, his music isn’t overproduced. It helps that the “Bubbly” Colbie Callait has that same singer-songwriter mentality.
Since I’ve been mentioning music videos, I do think the video is a little lazy. I can hear the director thinking about this one: Oh, since we can’t have Jason and Colbie in the same place, let’s place Colbie on a beach looking pretty and we’ll have Jason in an old European town. There wasn’t much to this video, but it didn’t have the same exact carefree-ness that “I’m Yours” had.
This song, like “I’m Yours” is one of those songs that I don’t mind listening to over and over again. It’s one that will make my “Carefree Summer” Playlist/Mixtape for a long while. Probably right next to LEN’s “Steal My Sunshine.”
