I’m such a Disney Dork
I got to see the newest princess being introduced to Disney's family, unfortunately it was only on YouTube.
I think that their concept is something that used the Mark Twain boat really creatively. It was really reminiscent of the 50s version of Show Boat.
While Disney tends to fail with internet updates and all, they have been keeping up with their YouTube page very strongly. Even their whole faux-Amazing Race Family Edition challenges are funny. There was one where the contestants had to think of celebrations and one woman said "First Yahtzee Game!" Hysterical.
Around the newsroom
I recently had the chance to read an article about Adam Lambert's new album. I have to say that the album cover is such a strong throwback to 80s/70s records. The font, coloring, photoshopping and everything just makes it look old.
I gotta say that I give Adam Lambert a lot of credit for not being ashamed of having a cover that looks really gay.
Tuesday Updates
Here are my two shows I covered last Tuesday:
Dancing with the Stars: Performance 6 Results - TV Squad
So You Think You Can Dance - Top 20 Perform - TV Squad
My thoughts:
DWTS - I thought that the dance-off was too short, Taylor Swift is still bad live, and Greg Louganis got really old.
SYTYCD - I thought most did a good job. I still dislike Phillip, but he did fine. It's a shame what happened to Billy and Brandon as well. Noelle should be kicked out now.
Around the Internets
Here's a cute kitty eating from chopsticks.
It's the cutest thing ever. And it's just nice to see how well mannered that kitty is.
Monday Updates
Here are the links today:
Dancing with the Stars: Week 6 Performances - TV Squad
So You Think You Can Dance: Meet the Top 20 - TV Squad
Jon & Kate Plus Eight: You Ask, Kate Answers - The Celebrity Cafe
My Thoughts:
Both Dance Shows - I think SYTYCD outshone DWTS, but I think that DWTS did an interesting job with the Mambo competition. Unfortunately, it looked really staged.
Jon & Kate - It was okay, but all the questions were answered defensively.
Link Updates
Here's the latest:
Review: America's Next Top Model - Interview 101 - TV Squad
Review: Dancing with the Stars - Performance 5 Results - TV Squad
Quick thoughts:
DWTS: I'm sad that Natalie was eliminated, but I guess that's the way of the game.
ANTM: On the other hand, I want Erin off my screen now.
Around the interwebs
This Pixar related video is amazing. It's slightly circulated around the Disney sphere, but I think that it's great no matter who watches it.
I think that whoever helped make this video (according to the credits it's Gloo Studios), Pixar should call them up and give them a job.
PS Sorry about the odd HTML problem. The video is a little big for my window.
Article Updates
Here's Monday's articles.
Jon & Kate Plus Eight: Butterflies & Water Rockets - The Celebrity Cafe
Recap: Dancing with the Stars - Performance 5 - TV Squad
Quick opinions:
J&K+8 - The classic episodes that deal with the children are the best. Happiness always trumps anger.
DWTS - I think that Donny was over scored. He'll be safe for a few more weeks if the judges are so liberal in their scoring.
Interesting video of the weekend
You know, I never thought that Massachusetts was hard to pronounce (spell? yes. pronounce? no.) But it turns out that Germans can't.
I find it a very interesting form of advertising. "Don't go here because you can't pronounce it." I guess it's our give and take from JFK speaking in German.
A quick thought on Russell from Survivor
I'm having trouble accepting Russel (H.) as a good player on Survivor: Samoa. My problem with it is that he's being force-fed by the editors to be this amazing game player. Announcing in the beginning of the season that he is "The most evil-est player in Survivor history" is the dumbest thing because now he can't live up to the hype.
I do think that he is an above average player with some smart goals (get rid of the week, look really good in camp, trim your own alliance members if they try to turn on you) but if he was in Galu we would have never seen this. With the one exception: could he have been throwing challenges in a Mole fashion? He looks like he's pulling his weight, but then there are times when he looked like "oh he tried his hardest" (Bocce ball, Holding on to the rope of coconuts) and could have dropped out without looking like a complete waste. While his gameplay isn't groundbreaking, it shouldn't be announced that it is amazing. There have been good players in this game (I think of Richard Hatch, Brian from Thailand, and Cirie come to mind) and there are good Under the Radar players (Sandra, Amber, Becky, Sue) and the only reason that we keep seeing Russell on our screen is because he's a better player than all these idiots that get casted because they are good looking.
I'm hearing some interesting things about Russell (and his shadow Natalie) when the two make the merge and now that they are really outnumbered I hope they (with Mick and Shambo) can turn the game around.
